Celebrate Lunar New Year with us and get to know the history and values of SYZ! We'll also have FREE ingredients to build your own spring rolls.
Self-Defense
Feb. 6 | Philanthropy | TBD | 7:00-8:30 PM
Come out to our Self-Defense workshop and learn about our National Philanthropy: To Combat the Violence Against Women. Trainers from the Gender Equity Center will be teaching us basic self-defense skills.
Rest Stop
Feb. 7 | Social | Eshleman 345 | 7:00-9:00 PM
Join us for a movie night with friendship bracelets, hot cocoa and snacks.
Back to Business
Feb. 9 | Educational | Stephen’s Lounge (MLK, 3rd floor) | 7:30-8:30 PM
Network with our SYZ alumni over mocktails and dinner at our career and internship panel.
Be my Valentine
Feb. 11 | GIM #2 | Bayview Room (Eshleman) | 7:00-9:00 PM
Missed out on our 1st GIM? No worries! Come out to our last and final GIM. Afterwards, create Valentine's candy jars for your special someone and speed date with the SYZters.
*To be eligible for an interview, you must attend at least one general interest meeting (GIM) and 2 other recruitment events! All recruitment events are FREE and NON-BINDING!
[ABOUT US]
Sigma Psi Zeta is a progressive, multicultural Greek sorority that was founded at the University of Albany on March 23, 1994 by our 10 Founding Mothers. With 34 chapters and still rapidly expanding, we are the third largest Asian-interest sorority nationwide. Although rooted in a history of Asian American activism, we are NOT Asian exclusive; since our founding, sisters have strived to create an empowering environment for female-identifying individuals of all ethnicity and backgrounds. Our founding values are further exemplified by our National Philanthropy: Combating Violence Against Women in all forms and across all cultures.
The Alpha Iota Charter of Sigma Psi Zeta was established on October 25, 2014 at UC Berkeley by a group of nine strong women. We are the first and only Asian-interest sorority in the Panhellenic Council. We strive to build a sisterhood that is rooted on the principle of trust and to establish an organization that would continue to have a positive effect on the community for generations to come. We cannot wait to show everyone what it is we do, and how proud we are of each other and this sisterhood.
[WHAT IS RECRUITMENT?]
Recruitment is a two week period filled with events for attendees to come and learn more about our SYZterhood. It is a wonderful way to meet and engage with the sisters through organized events in order for potential new members to determine if they would be interested in becoming a part of Sigma Psi Zeta. All recruitment events are non-binding and it is purely for potential new members to decide if this organization is right for them.
[WHY SHOULD YOU JOIN SYZ?]
To be a part of the 3rd largest Asian-interest sorority nationwide - 34 chapters and growing!
To support our fight in combating violence against women in all its forms.
To grow and develop well-rounded skills and ambitions for life after college.
To meet other women with unique cultural backgrounds and individual experiences.
To join and experience a sisterhood that will last a lifetime - we’re more than an organization, we’re a family ♡
